One of the best things you can do these days is to go outside and get some fresh air (but making sure to keep your distance, of course!). And one of the best ways to do this is by working in a garden.

Do you have a picture of your garden? If so, send it to us! See details below.

We get our whole family involved. We all rake and weed and plant. (Well, honestly, no one likes to weed, but you gotta do it!) We grow mostly perennials and add a few annuals here and there to fill in some areas.

Gardening Is Really Growing

The gardening market is blooming (sorry, I couldn’t help myself!). Lawn and garden spending set an overall record of more than $52 billion in 2018, according to the National Gardening Association.

The organization also said that about three-quarters of all U.S. households engage in some form of gardening or lawn care.

And who’s helping to grow this market? It’s Millennials (ages 18-34), who accounted for a quarter of 2018’s record gardening spending, according to the National Gardening Association. And this, NGA states, is despite these younger gardeners having lower household incomes than older age groups and being more likely to live in an apartment or condo.

Even if you don’t have a yard, you can still garden. According to the NGA, indoor gardening is big, with 30% of all households buying at least one houseplant.

Tell us: What kind of gardener are you?

  • Do you plant your own fruits and vegetables?
  • Do you prefer plants and flowers?
  • Do you grow plants indoors?
  • Do you do all of the above!!
  • And, finally, this is one question that’s near and dear to me: Any tips for taking care of weeds?

Let us know by commenting below at the bottom of the page.

Finally, I want to remind you to scan all your lawn and garden purchases. Many of the items you might buy for your garden or lawn are large or come in big, bulky packages or containers, such as topsoil, fertilizer, wood chips, rakes, wagons, wheelbarrows, and so on. These types of items are typically stored away in garages or sheds before and after use, so before you store these don’t forget to scan them.

Thanks, and get out and enjoy your garden! (If you can …)

Best Regards,
Taylor
