My family and I love to play board games. Playing board games is not just for raining days, it’s great anytime. All I have to do is take Monopoly or Clue out of the closet, maybe make some popcorn or something else that’s healthy, and we’re all ready to go!
I know many people who really enjoy playing board games with their family and/or friends, and some even have designated “game nights.” We’re all so (electronically) connected nowadays, it’s just nice to get away from the screen for a while.
Did you know that playing board games is popular throughout the world? Global sales of games and puzzles have grown from $9.3 billion in 2013 to $9.6 billion in 2016, according to Euromonitor International, with expected year-on-year growth of more than 1% this year.
So what board games do you like to play? Let me know!
Here are some of the top board games of all time, according to Ranker.com:

We like playing Rummikub with friends/family and it challenges our Senior brains, HaHa! We also like playing Tower Monopoly which is a twist on Monopoly but faster. Beyond board games, our family likes playing Canasta with girls team versus boys team. Fun times!
MAD GAB is a blast! I’m always on the hunt for new games for family game time. We’ve enjoyed the ones you mentioned in your blog, but have found several others to be fun as well, though most require the participants to be of reading age. LINKEE, Mr. Listers Quiz Shootout and Trhyme (yes, that’s how it’s spelled) are fun. But the most fun I have ever had was playing PARTY GRAS, which is hard to find, but likely can order it online. So fun!
Good day! This is my first comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and say I really enjoy reading your articles.
Wow, amazing weblog layout! How long have you been running a blog for? you make running a blog glance easy. The entire glance of your web site is wonderful, let alone the content!
Playing board games has been a part of my family since my daughter was old enough play a game. Now she is 24 and we get each other a new board game each year and will take a weekend to just play games. We sometimes get together with friends but this has been, and hopefully will continue to be, a great way to stay connected as a family and share a real conversation that does not revolve around a cell phone or computer.

My son Bradley, 9 years old loves playing Monopoly. With only myself, husband, and son playing it sure does take hours to finish a game. We enjoy the time spent together laughing and having fun. Have any of you tried Monopoly Empire or Monopoly Here and Now? Both of these versions of Monopoly are a lot of fun too.
Thank you.
Have you ever played “Play Nine”? This is a fun card game using strategies. It is available at Dick’s Sporting Goods stores and costs about $20.00. It is based on golf, but you quickly learn that strategies to maintain the lowest score is the key to the game. It is great for challenging bright students that are bored with the typical board game. Adults love it too. We all need a challenge.
Thanks. Marilyn Thomas.
I don’t remember that game, but as a child I played the card game OLD MAID’S, MARBLE’S,JACK’S,And PICK UP STICKS, in which I am trying to get my grand kids to try them, they look at me like I am crazy(smile).
