Today, October 14th, is National Dessert Day! Out of all the designated “national” days of the year, this is one of my favorites. I always say I could just eat appetizers and desserts and skip the entrees!

A Day About Desserts? Sweet!

So, what’s this day all about? Basically, it gives us an excuse to indulge in our favorite dessert! From cookies to pies, to pastries, cake and ice cream, there is a something out there for everyone.

All types of desserts are consumed throughout the year. There are seasonal delights, too, especially around the holiday season. In the summertime, ice cream prevails! In the fall season (as well as around Thanksgiving and the holiday season), pecan, pumpkin, and apple pies come to mind. During the holiday season, it is also common for people to dig out those dessert recipes that have been handed down for generations.

What’s your favorite dessert? Let me know in the comment section, I would love to hear from you!
