Last week we wrote about staycations, which seems to be what many are being forced to do as we continue to struggle through the coronavirus pandemic. This week we’re going to be looking forward: What is the location of your dream vacation? (That is, of course, when people are again “free to move about the country,” to steal a line from an old Southwest Airlines ad.)
Where is your dream vacation location? (Assuming money was no object.) Let us know in the Comments section toward the bottom of the page.
So where would you want to go? Obviously this is a very subjective question.
But to get a sense of what people around the country were interested in, RENTCafé.com—a nationwide apartment search website and research blog—recently analyzed travel-related Google searches for 960 destinations in the U.S. and then ranked the destinations, towns, beaches, and natural areas that saw the smallest drop in interest from people dreaming about a future escape.
Here are their results:

Again, please tell us your dream vacation location. Is it someplace in the United States? Or is it someplace else in the world. Let us know!
I don’t know about you, but I’ll be spending time dreaming of my next vacation.
Hope you have a great weekend. Stay safe!
Best Regards,
Taylor
My dream vacation would be South Africa, seeing animals in there natural habitat. And seeing our motherland.
My dream vacation is 2 weeks in Greece. Exploring the Country and all of its history.
Hi Taylor & All, I am new to this exciting & informational platform. I am planning a worldwide trip starting from US to Spain, Italy, France & ended up in Egypt at the end of 2025. I am so excited about this adventure. I will record my trip along the way.
May everyone have a wonderful New Year 🎉 Thank You again Donna
I would love to go to Ireland and England where my ancestors came from. I want to explore the land and hear the people talk in their accents.
I’ve always wanted to visit Rome and see the Vatican. It is so historic and beautiful.
I was surprised to not find Branson, MO in your list of top 20 vacation destinations. It is a great family vacation destination. Silver Dollar City is a wonderful fun place with something for all ages. There are nearby places for nature lovers with Table Rock Lake a major boating and water sports Mecca. A wide range of housing choices is available at very reasonable prices. We rate it as one of our widely traveled families favorite places.
I was scheduled to go to Egypt in September but it was cancelled. I’m still gonna try to go next September.
We were scheduled to go to our timeshare in Grand Cayman in May, rescheduled for September and have rescheduled for the third time for next April. It’s my happy place and can’t wait to return
A top dream vacation location would be Neuschwanstein Castle. It’s a 19th-century Bavarian palace on a rugged hill near Hohenschwangau and Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. I cannot think of a better location than a castle in the clouds!
My vacation would be Bahamas
WOW…That sounds heavenly!!
It is very beautiful indeed! I got to see it as a teenager many years ago, but I’ve been told by people in Germany that I stay in touch with that it hasn’t changed. I probably would want to go there either early Spring or in the Fall, when you don’t have to many tourists everywhere yet, making the pace to see everything less hurried and a lot more fun.
I would love to go to Alaska or Paris, France ????????
My dream vaca is Australia and New Zealand, but mainly I would love to be able to go to CT where some of my family live(daughter, son-in-law, & mostly my only grandson)
A far away vacation for me would be Australia. I’ve always wanted to go to the Outback.
I would also love to see Montana and Wyoming. There is so much to see in America ❤️
I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii or Paris. I’ve lived in Philadelphia, Pa. all my life and it would be my dream come true if I could go to Hawaii one day.
WOULD LOVE to go to Maui, Hawaii, or Morocco to meet my son-in-law’s family who live there.
I too have wanted to visit the Hawaiian Island that has the black sandy beach
Hawaii and Alaska. We live in NC so we’ve been to the outerbanks a lot!
My dream vaca is Australia and New Zealand!
I’ve always wanted to go to Rome or Paris, for the cool sights to see 🙂
I wish i could go on vacation but can’t sorry
If it’s because of financial restraints, then you can still go. Find yourself a good church family that does Mission work and volunteer for this and it normally doesn’t cost you anything at all; of course you will not be on your own to do things 24/7 like when traveling alone somewhere. However, you’ll be doing something good for others and still have some me time to see some new things. If you’re not a religious person, then there’s still other ways to go on a free vacation but it usually requires you to work as well as an employee of a cruise ship. Then you still have all the charity organizations that take volunteers to help people in other countries with getting a better life by teaching them certain things or like with Habitat for Humanity International which also helps in other U.S. states, but also does a lot of building in other countries. Some of the charities, you need to have certain qualifications to help and others you don’t; some require you to buy your own transportation but everything else is free and some even have something similar like scholarships if you really want to help others and meet the qualifications and they sometimes pay for the transportation as well. You can always try doing something like this here in the US first before you try something in a foreign country. I could list so many more ways, but I’m sure you could probably find them on your own just by googling for what you want. However, before you go with an organization other than a well known company like Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, Samaritan Purse etc..; I highly suggest to Google that company or organization for bad reviews or scams, so you stay safe. Just tried to show you, that anyone can go on vacation as long as you’re old enough, not hospitalized or unable to do anything like walk or incarcerated. Of course, you will have to pay for your passport if you want to go to a foreign country. Always see the glass half full rather than half empty and there’s always an opportunity available. Wishing you bright days and dreams coming true!
