Hey there, it’s James from NCP. In this video, I’ll be covering a few of the most common questions panel members have about scanning their purchases. Stick around and let’s go through them together.
How do I report my gasoline purchases?
It’s easy. After tapping “scan new purchases” and selecting a store, tap “this item does not have a barcode.” This opens the non-barcoded items list. Select the gasoline category. If you only purchased gas, select gas trip only, then enter the total amount you paid.
If you purchased gas and other items, select gas with purchase. Enter the total amount you paid for gas. Then scan the UPC barcodes of your other items, snacks, drinks, candy, etc., as usual.
Use the gasoline category only for gas pumped directly into your vehicle or a portable container, not for kerosene, propane, home heating oil, or other fuels.
Why do I have to enter any deals I received on each item?
NCP collects information on all types of promotions. Manufacturers and retailers want to know which deals are most effective so they can keep offering the types of discounts shoppers value. After scanning a product’s barcode, you’ll be asked, “Was there a promotion?” If yes, simply select the option that applies: store coupon, manufacturer coupon, store sale, or other sale and provide a few quick details if needed before submitting your shopping trip.
Also, let us know if you used a frequent shopper card or took advantage of double triple coupons. For more details, check out our guide to reporting deals in the resources section of the panel member website.
That wraps up our look at scanning. Hopefully, this gave you a clearer picture of how to report gas purchases and promotions. Got more questions about scanning? Leave them in the comments and we’ll make sure to help out.
