The state blog post are interesting and I enjoy learning about each state. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Idaho.
Although, as someone that was born and raised in Georgia, some of this information, or lack of information, shocked me. Here is some of the best info about Georgia, that’s missing from this post.
Yes, culinary scene is excellent due to numerous award winning chefs opening restaurants around Atlanta. We also have a few great wineries in North Georgia with nice restaurants.
Other great points of Atlanta include several music festivals each year, museums including art, natural history and science with an observatory. Atlanta has the largest aquarium in the United States, there are various sports teams, and attractions
Outside the city we have excellent outdoor activities from an easy walking trail, to long hiking trails, whitewater rafting, lake and/or fly fishing, boat trips in the Okefenokee Swamp, day at the beach, our own Bavarian Village, FDR’s Little White House, and too many places to list. In addition, we have a significant TV and film production throughout the state. Shows like Stranger Things, Heels, all the Madea movies, and more are part of the list. We currently have 34 productions being filmed.
One of my favorite places to visit is Cumberland Island National Seashore. Once owned by the Carnegie Family of New York, they donated the majority of the island over 50 years ago. They wanted to preserve the tranquil formation of the island and allow for some of the animals to remain protected. It’s home to alligators, beaver, river otters, bobcats, and over 300 birds either live on the island or use it during migration. The endangered Loggerhead Turtle lays their eggs on the island beaches every summer. The island is also home to one of the few Feral Horse herds in the United States. Horses have been on the island for at least 280 years, possibly since the 1500s.
My other favorite place is Dahlonega, Georgia. Once home to the Georgia Gold Rush. You can tour the Consolidated Gold Mine, learn it’s history and even pan for a little gold. It was an operation US Mint in the mid 1800s, for less than 25 years. Yet it produced millions of dollars in coins, during that time. Although it shut down appx 165 years ago, there is still a vast amount of gold in the region.

I live in Georgia. This was so interesting to read! Lots of information about my state and the shopping habits of others that live here! I really enjoy taking these surveys and reading the information that it gathered! Thanks!
One of our Presidents, Jimmy Carter, who’s lived the longest…lives in Plains, GA…
I think when I moved here 8 years ago how I shopped had to completely change.
From not having all the northern items we would eat readily available to meat even tasting different, adapting is the key to being happy wherever you are blown to by circumstances and planted.
So how I shop also changed. I can go out in our ‘coldest’ winter and get groceries if I need a few items or wait for a delivery and cook later. I’m not freezing to death, and I have adapted by adding new recipes or adapting old ones.
I LIVE in Georgia and I learned a lot! Thanks for making it fun to read about us!
I’ve visited Georgia twice in the 1970s. The things that impressed me most were the beauty of the buildings at the interstate rest stops (I hope they are still there) and discovering underground Atlanta. When I think of Georgia I think of Ray Charles and peaches 🍑. Happy thoughts….
This was great information. I have friends in Georgia but never thought to ask any of this to educate me. Thank you for this. I Iearned something new.
