When people ask what I want as a birthday or holiday gift, I often tell them to get me a gift card. Like many of you, when I pay for a shopping trip I use whatever value is on the gift card and also cash or a credit card to make up the difference.
In fact, many panel members have asked how to record their shopping trips when using two (or possibly more) different types of payment options.
Recording Multiple Payment Methods
In this situation, when recording the purchase use the payment method that was the highest amount – even if it was just a penny more!
So, for example, if you spent $15 on a shopping trip and used a gift card for $10 and then $5 in cash, the method of payment would be Gift Card.
Different Payment Options
FYI: The NCPMobile App offers the following payment options:
- Credit Card
- Cash
- Check
- Debit/ATM Card
- SNAP/Food Stamps
- Gift Card
- WIC
- Other
Note: If you use NCP’s handheld scanner, you may not have all of these payment options available.
We hope that helps! If you have any other specific questions about scanning or panel membership, contact the Panel Support Center.
A Day We Will Never Forget
Today of course is the 19th anniversary of the attack on the United States. I’m sure you, like me, are thinking back to where you were when you heard about the attacks, and also taking time to reflect on what happened that day. I just can’t believe it’s been 19 years. It really seems like it was yesterday.
Best Regards,
Taylor

I greatly appreciated reading this informative blog post! I found it to be extremely helpful!
Thanks ????
This is a very helpful blog post! Even though I have always wondered about which payment type to choose when using multiple payments, I have always chosen the payment type that was used to pay the higher amount. I am relieved to hear that I’ve been making the right choice!
Hi Taylor,
Thanks for the reminder.
