Coffee isn’t just a morning ritual, it’s a daily pick-me-up and source of comfort for millions of Americans. From classic drip to cold brew, coffee continues to evolve while remaining America’s favorite beverage. Monday, September 29th, was National Coffee Day, a day to honor the rich history of coffee, explore new brewing trends, and savor the flavors that make every cup unique. Did you get any special coffee deals on that day? Being a coffee lover, I can’t believe I forgot all about it and missed out, ugh!
Coffee Trends
According to the National Coffee Association (NCA), 66% of Americans drink coffee every day, consuming an average of three cups a day. The NCA’s Spring 2025 National Coffee Trends Report (conducted by a third party), revealed within the specialty category, consumption of espresso-based beverages (which include cappuccinos, espressos, lattes, café mochas, macchiatos, and Americanos) increased by 17% (from 24% of adults in 2020 to 28% in 2025), and consumption of non-espresso-based beverages (which include frozen blends, cold brew, and nitro) increased by nearly 42% (from 12% of adults in 2020 to 17% in 2025).
Other interesting findings in the report included:
At home remains by far the most popular place to prepare coffee.
Grocery stores remain the most popular place to purchase coffee, but the number of coffee drinkers who purchased coffee online doubled from 7% in 2020 to 14% in 2025.
Drip coffee makers are most prevalent in American households, but single cup brewers, instant coffee, bean-to-cup machines, and other set ups are becoming increasingly popular.

Reporting Coffee Purchases
If you’re a coffee drinker, don’t forget to scan all your coffee and coffee-related purchases.
If you buy any type of packaged ground or whole bean coffee that has a UPC barcode, scan the barcode to report the purchase.
If your ground or whole bean coffee purchase does not have a barcode, select the Coffee – Ground/Whole Bean category in the Non-Barcoded Items section of the NCPMobile app. If you use NCP’s handheld scanner, refer to the Barcode Reference Booklet.
You can report ready-to-drink coffee, too! If you buy a cup, select Coffee – Cup of Coffee to report the purchase.
Java nice day!
Regards,
Taylor
