I love starting my mornings with a good cup of coffee, but in the evenings, there’s nothing better than unwinding with a soothing cup of tea while catching up on my favorite shows (because let’s be honest, I’m always behind!). I keep a variety of herbal teas on hand, each with its own purpose—whether it’s for digestion, relaxation, immunity, and more.
Do you drink tea on a regular basis? If so, what type of tea do you drink the most? Let me know in the comment section below, I would love to hear from you!
What is Tea?
Tea is a beverage made by taking leaves from the Camellia Sinensis plant and steeping them in hot water. The leaves and buds of this plant are carefully harvested to create a diverse range of teas, each with its own unique flavor and characteristics.
Types of Tea
Let’s explore some of the different types of teas as shared by teaforte.com.
Black Tea is the most familiar type of tea in North America and Europe, with popular varieties like Earl Grey and English Breakfast. It undergoes the most intensive processing, allowing the leaves to fully oxidize before drying. This gives black tea its distinctive dark color.
Green Tea is an unoxidized tea and is best known for its grassy vegetal notes (aromas) and greenish leaves. Because it doesn’t undergo oxidation, green tea requires careful steeping. Too much heat or steeping time can make it taste bitter.
White Tea is the least processed of teas, made exclusively from the buds and very young leaves of the tea plant. Despite being minimally processed, it is slightly more oxidized than green tea.
Oolong Tea falls between black and green tea, and is only partially oxidized. While its appearance leans more toward black tea, its flavor is closer to green tea, offering a smooth and well-rounded taste.
Herbal Teas include a wide variety of infusions made from herbs, flowers, berries, spices, roots, fruits, and other flora sources. Herbal teas have been used for centuries for their soothing and medicinal benefits.
Tea Trends
Now, let’s take a look at some interesting trends in the tea industry according to an article published by NielsenIQ in August of 2023, The State of Tea: 5 Key Tea Trends.
- Increased Popularity of Herbal Teas – A renewed focus on health has led to the growing popularity of natural and organic products, including herbal teas. These teas offer a variety of health benefits with some of the more popular choices being chamomile and ginger teas.
- Growing Demand for Functional Teas – These teas are formulated for specific health benefits. Among the most popular are turmeric tea and green tea.
- Rise of Matcha Tea – A type of green tea made from finely ground leaves. Matcha is gaining traction for its rich, creamy flavor and high antioxidant content.
- Growing Interest in Loose-leaf Tea – Consumers are gravitating toward loose-leaf tea, which is often of higher quality than bagged tea. This reflects a preference for premium tea experiences.
- Increased Focus on Sustainability – Some of the ways that tea companies are working to be more sustainable include using recycled packaging, sourcing tea from sustainable farms, and reducing their water usage.

They used to have this store inside them all I’ve gone now and it had these cool looking glass things of tea brewin like any could get free sampwas I’d like it was called tivana or something I’m not trying to advertise anything are like selling anybody any products or anything but it literally had hundreds of differenttypes of any candidate and like I mean I wasn’t there for hours But the one that they had and was like the unbrutal 24 hours a day as soon as you walk in there was a cold teeth I think they had a hot and a cold brewing you could sample from as soon as u got there and it was awesome to fir berry lovers it was the Teavana Tea Alternatives – Capital Teas
The Youthberry blended with Wild Orange Blossom has been the #1 tea on the sample cart th Youthberry® tea, our Berry Young tea is full of delicious rose hips, hibiscus, apple pieces, orange peel, kiwi pieces. But I wanted something hot and sweetened like caramel and vanilla something and I found it it was a white chocolate something or other with caramel and omg it was to die for. Just to enjoy not for any specific thing or health benefits at all this was just the opposite probably 😆 but they had thousands of special healing teas in about every blend or flavor u could think of. And the coolest steeping glass pots that were absolutely one of a kind and hand crafted or painted but sadly they are very pricey and I am thinking they went out of business and Starbucks bought them so I’m sure you all can find anything under the sun relating to tea there. Enjoy your steeping adventures. Hope this helped someone or sparked an interest to look. I found them now and yes they are still available just not in brick and mortar I don’t think what a Bummer they always mess with the stuff I love discontinuing or something just my luck. seems like sometimes. Like my favorite seats at Bath and Body. I know teas are great for us and they should have more and more places like that and let us explore and try all the different types like a Tea Museum 😆
I could never give up my morning coffee, the caffeine is an obvious perk but I also think it’s a comforting way to start my day. Taking my time to savor and enjoy it while being alone with my thoughts.
Although, I’ve also been searching for a nice calming tea to end my day with as well. I’m new to the tea scene so I haven’t tried very many, but I’m finding tea’s with valerian root are wonderfully relaxing and usually help me fall asleep.
I haven’t found a favorite yet so if anyone has any suggestions I’d love to hear them! I’d like to find something that melts away stress and c and gently lulls you to sleep.
I am a lfe-long tea drinker and my husband, since he retired, has joined me. We brew a freshpot of tea almost every day. We are on our fourth or fifth pot and third kettle, not counting my cast iron kettle I used for camping.
I started with my mom’s Lipton tea, but now prefer loose teas. Our favorite vendors are British Tea Centre (britishtea.com) and Harney & Sons (harney.com). The latter has an excellent selection of herbal teas. Our very favorite is Kenya Lesla Black Dryer Mouth tea. It grows on the Lesla Estate in Kenya, is a strong black tea with a wonderful flavor, and is the first tea gathered from the mouth of the dryer. We usually alternate among four different teas, including Irish Breakfast, Scottish Breakfast, Welsh Breakfast (when available), English Breakfast, and Canadian Breakfast. There is a New England Breakfast blend with hints of maple. I drink all my teas plain black, no sugar or milk, so I can taste the teas in their pure form. Many of the teas from these two companies are organic, fair trade, and employ the local residents for caring for the tea plantations’ functions.
I quit drinking coffee a few years ago….stopped all caffeine, except for an occasional chocolate bar.
I love herbal teas. My favorites are the berries & the Apple Cinnamon…I want to try white tea. I don’t care for green tea.
I make sweet tea from black tea bags. I drink tea all day and on occasion, I have a diet coke.
I like the yogi brand of herbal teas. I like particularly the detox teas and tease with turmeric and ginger and lemon. I will Brew one bag of an herbal tea with a green tea decaffeinated. Then had a dollop of a honey and some drops of lemon. I also include in my morning tea a scoop of collagen powder. Life is good.
I drink green peach tea almost everyday. If it’s not peach it’s green elderberry. Delicious!
I have been trying to stop drinking coffee and as a result have been drinking more herbal teas. I drink a variety of herbal teas depending on my mood. I never knew there were so many varieties out there and have been having fun just tasting and testing various ones.
